Call me back

In June 2014, the team at Unity Technology Solutions (Cork and Dublin offices) undertook to fundraise €10,000 to be split evenly between two exceptionally worthwhile charities ‐ Pieta House, the centre for the prevention of self‐harm or suicide; and St. Patrick’s Mental Health Foundation, Ireland’s largest independent provider of mental health services.

On Saturday 6th September, after almost 3 months of fundraising, we completed 5km walks in both Dublin and Cork! More than 100 people took part in the walks including representatives of the charities, family and friends! In the days after the walk, donations continued to come in and the final amount fundraised came in at €14,694.20 – completely exceeding our target and expectations! Our initiative was also supported by some amazing sponsors including Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland, Data Solutions, Data‐Part, Direct Distribution, Exertis, HP, Square One, 20:20 Distribution, Liquid Voice, Microsoft, Vodafone, Berman & Wallace, Ding, Good Gourmet Café, Horizon Digital Print Solutions and Bewley’s.

Thanks also to Bressie, Paddy McKenna, Hector, Dave Moore, Ross O’Carroll Kelly, Triona McCarthy, Rick O’Shea and Conor Cusack amongst others for their retweets! Corks Red FM and 98fm also played their part by calling to our offices, doing interviews and giving us shout outs on air!

Kate Moran, ‘Walk in My Shoes’ Project Manager said, “It’s really wonderful to see the staff of Unity’s Dublin and Cork offices taking positive and proactive steps to raise funds and awareness for mental health. Lots of people turned out for the 5km walk and through funds raised by Unity we can really make a difference to the lives of young people in Ireland with mental health difficulties”. Marie Peelo, Volunteer and Fundraising Co‐ordinator at Pieta House said: “We’ve seen nearly 3,500 people this year across our nine centres and demand for our service is always on the rise. Because we receive less than 20% of our funding from the state, fundraising by organisations like Unity Technology Solutions is vital to ensure that our service can continue to thrive and grow. We are delighted that Unity chose Pieta House to be part of their CSR initiative”.

Once again, thank you to everyone that supported us in raising awareness and much-needed funds for two important causes!
