Call me back

Microsoft Teams is currently celebrating its 1st year anniversary! We thought now would be a good time to have a look at what has changed with Teams since we last posted about it. The world of technology is fast-paced and keeping up with updates across all your applications can be a challenge. But you can always let us do the heavy lifting for you, after all, it’s what we do!

Not sure what Microsoft Teams is?

If you’re not already aware, Microsoft Teams is a fantastic communication tool for business. It is designed to bring your teams together, no matter where they are working from, across a single interface. With seamless communication and teamwork made possible by instant chat functionality, real-time document editing and video conferencing, Teams gives your teams the tools they need for true productivity.

The good news is Microsoft Teams is offered as part of the Office 365 suite. This means that all of your favourite Office 365 applications integrate automatically. No need to convert files or any of that nonsense! Within this frictionless workplace, you can use Teams to accelerate team projects and get results faster.

What’s new in Microsoft Teams

Guest access

Teams is great for bringing people from every corner of your organisation together. Now the sales team can easily work on projects the marketing team, and the marketing team can fire up a chat with the IT team in just a couple of clicks. But what about people outside of the organisation? Sometimes a project will need the input of an outside agency or a client, but how do you include them in the conversation?

Teams has updated its functionality and now allows Guest Access. This means that you can add people outside the company to a team, letting them contribute to the team’s chat and meetings as long as they use Office 365. They can be given permissions to access necessary documents and collaborate in real-time. Guest Access can be easily revoked, and permissions can be edited by IT admins with zero hassle. Guests can be sure that their data is secure with Azure’s enterprise-grade security always working in the background.

Praise for colleagues

Teams can feel a bit formal at times when compared to the likes of Microsoft’s social networking platform, Yammer. Since the dawn of texting, we’ve been including smiley faces to convey emotions that do not translate easily via text. Being able to praise and show recognition in digital conversations is important for team morale and clear communication. Microsoft Teams didn’t have praise functionality…that is, until now!

GrowBot has partnered with Microsoft Teams, so you now have, as they put it, ‘‘A fun way to give kudos to your teammates!’’ To use GrowBot in your team chat just tag GrowBot in your message and tell them to give ‘‘kudos’’ to a selected friend. There’s even a leaderboard to show who in the team is getting the most kudos.

Connect your CRM

Teams can connect with many different technologies to enhance the user experience as well as the service capabilities. A particularly helpful one has been added and it’s the Microsoft Dynamics 365 connector. Dynamics 365 in an intelligent cloud application which combines enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) data for effective data processing, real business intelligence and powerful decision-making. You can now use Microsoft Dynamics 365 from within Teams, getting access to the data you need when you need it and easily sharing it with your team.
